at their shared sink...
hidden in the medicine cabinet and nestled next to henri's toothbrush is a holmes gray handpainted ceramic egg. it's just big enough to nestle in the palm of henri's hand. roy keeps an orderly home- it's not like something so precious to be found in such an odd place.
in her underwear drawer...
atop a pair of henri's white lace panties is a 19th century imperial egg pendant, hatching a chick. it is intricate, old and shows signs of wear, and is easy to miss if one is a little rough while opening the drawer. if henri is particularly slow or careful this morning, she'll find the golden egg closed atop a pair of her underwear that roy has subconsciously expressed as his favorite pair.
on the fridge's top shelf...
next to the milk and orange juice is a large frog escaping his shell. number 83 of only 150, the piece is signed by the artist and stares back at henri with an intensity that can only be described as friendly. its eye faces hers when she opens the door to the refrigerator.
atop a pig pen post...
this vintage egg-shaped glass hen is in a precarious position atop a newly placed post at apfelbienen's pig pen. it's heavy and the air is still save for the occasional cool breeze, meaning it's unlikely that the elements have knocked this glass sculpture from its place of honor. however, things do happen- wayward brothers with sticky fingers, a heavy breeze, an accidental knock that might send this flightless bird falling to the ground. however: she is prismatic as the sun hits her, casting rainbows upon the pig house like a stained glass window worthy of the lord's house of worship.
in roy's loungewear pocket...
roy borders on omnipotent in his hiding prowess- he takes a risk with this one, though it's calculated. in one of the pockets of his silk loungewear is a midcentury gucci bird-with-egg ring, fitted to henri's size. within the bird's mouth is a small pearl, the ring itself is gold with green enamel. she is loose within his pocket, waiting to be found.
near the hive...
it's unmistakable, a speck of white amongst green at the base of the hive. upon closer inspection it becomes clear that this is a true imperial easter egg, hand painted and ceramic, dating back to the 19th century and signed by the artist- deaj.
amongst the phlox...
henri's garden is truly the jewel of apfelbienen. a spectrum of color and aroma, it's an unforgettable aspect of the farm that both guests and residents have come to love. hidden amongst the phlox is a 19th century majolica mouse vase, its cracked egg waiting to be adorned with the wildflowers that grow in the garden.
at leon's doorstep...
one of the larger gifts is left undisturbed at the front steps of leon's trailer. though the presence of the gift has not gone unnoticed by the more stoic of the twins, it has remained unperturbed as leon - though often straight faced an unamused - has a slight appreciation for romantic gestures. at his front steps is a 21st century marble egg lamp, nearly 11 inches tall with a brass base.
in bienen's stall...
all the kings horses and all the kings men... hidden high up in bienen's stall (where their beloved mare can't reach) is a vintage gold pendant with moveable arms and ruby eyes. it's humpty, sat high on a stall wall, minding his own business. he seems to be plenty happy where he is, though unmistakable as the morning light shines through the stable windows, catching on the bends in his elbows and knees and sparkling just bright enough to catch one's eye. bienen doesn't seem aware of him, though, and if he falls and breaks... chances are she won't be much help in putting him back together.
at roy's secret pasture...
is it wise to leave a snail egg sculpture by sergio bustamante out in the open? maybe... maybe not... will henri find it? maybe... maybe not... regardless, the egg (larger than a foot in length) is there until its found.
